The history of Il Portico is linked to the Sanctuary and the Miracle of the Holy Pietà: it was born in 1989 from the renovation of the Casa del Pellegrino, which was built in the 1970s to serve the Sanctuary for the accommodation of the then numerous faithful.

There are several features that still exist and recall its origin: the recently restored large paintings from the early 18th century that narrate the story of the Miracle, the vaulted ceilings of the dining room created from the cellars of the Sanctuary, the stained glass windows in the living room, offering an unmatched view, the sober lines, the spacious common areas, and the sound of the bells marking the rhythm of the days.
